St. Albans College, Buenos Aires

100 this year!

This is an unofficial St. Albans College site. It was set up simply to provide a means whereby former students could renew acquaintances. I trust that the guest-book will provide the opportunity for many to do just that. It will obviously take a little time before the page becomes known, but please do add your name!

I was at St. Albans only two years ('53-4) before coming to England. In those two years I was in "Shell" and "V" - two fairly secluded classrooms on the left of the main entrance. I was in Sparta house.

At that time John Edward Vibart (generally known as EV) was head. A formidable man, sometimes feared by the pupils, his contribution to the school and indeed to the British community In Buenos Aires was remarkable. IN 1962 he was awarded the O.B.E. for services to education.
In October 1967, a day after his 65th birthday, he died.

EV had three sons - Roger (pictured as coach in the 1st XV), John, and Dick. Paul is currently headmaster, and just as I was revising this page this evening I received a photograph of John, shown herel. John became married when I was a pupil, and will probably tire of my saying proudly that I sang a solo at his wedding!

In 2001 John was awarded the OBE for his services to education.

Putting up the web-site, to enable OPs to get in contact with each other, is one very small way of expressing my appreciation for my time there.

It's always great to hear from current and former students. Do write, and please encourage other OPs you know to contribute!

Best wishes
