Founder's Day & Prize Giving
The Annual Prize Giving Ceremony for Academic prowess in 2003, celebrated on Founder's Day, will be held on Wednesday 11th of August at 19:00 hrs. Prizes will be handed out this year by brothers Francisco and Leandro Arregui, Gold Medallists in 1971 and 1972 respectively, and sons of former Chemistry teacher Firmo Arregui.
We shall also be honoured with the visit and performance of the Barbershop Choir of St. Alban's College, Pretoria, South Africa.
All Old Philomathians and friends are most welcome.
Sad news
We regret to announce the death of three Old Philomathians occurred during the month of July.
John “Sunshine” Roberts , on July 10, 2004 in Lomas de Zamora. John, whose real name was William Henry, was born on September 26, 1930 and attended SAC from 1938 to 1947. He was a Corinthian and his nickname “Sunshine” was because he was constantly smiling.
Kenneth Bridger , on July 20, 2004 in Valencia, Spain. Kenneth was born on May 10, 1920 and attended SAC from 1926 to 1936. He was a keen sportsman who defended the Corinth colours while at school. He became the sports correspondent for the Buenos Aires Herald and wrote a book on the the history of the North vs South Cricket Match on occasion of its 75th Anniversary.
Alfred Colin Brown Roberts , on July 23, 2004 in Temperley. Colin was born on March 18, 1929. He attended SAC from 1938 to 1945. He was also a Corinthian who excelled at cricket and continued playing the game after school for Lomas AC. He was father of three OPs, Michael, Alan and John Gavin.
All three will be sadly missed. We send their families and friends are deepest condolences.
Centenary Campaign
We wish to thank Jorge Boria (class of 1964), who lives in Texas, USA and Robert Tozer (class of 1970), living in Kingston-on-Thames, England, for their handsome contributions to the Centenary Fund.
As was mentioned in the previous SACNET we are ready to accomplish first stage of our building targets, the new classroom in the Kindergarten, and now we aim at the more ambitious stage 2: the roofing and enclosure of the Basket-ball Court. We are very confident that we shall achieve this in record time.
