Each headstone records the name, number, age and rank of the soldier at the time of his death. There are a few with no name.
It
must have given Jill a strange feeling, as she saw for the first time
the gravestone of her grandfather, and more particularly saw her own maiden
name there. For all we know, we may have been the very first relatives
to have visited the grave since he died so many years ago, as he had no
brothers or sisters.
